Fall Table Setting

Designing beautiful table settings is one of my passions.
I love to entertain, and my dinner parties are always centered
around a beautifully set table.  I often begin with a theme and go from there.
Sometimes however, I enjoy designing a simple table; one without
the pomp and circumstance of fancy linens, expensive china and stemware,
or formal place cards.
Here is one setting I designed last year for a dinner party I hosted last fall.
Because fall is full of vibrant colors and various textures, I opted
for a natural place setting.  Beautiful green pears with dark brown stems
were the center of this place setting bringing "harvest" to the table at it's best.
A simple card stock tag attached by thick cooking string
with the handwritten names of my guests hung from each stem in the
most simplest of fashion.

Fancy napkin rings were not needed at this table...
I simply laid a white hemstitch napkin on each plate to draw the eye
to the natural place card setting instead.
I added a contrast color of dark green hypericum berries, and the setting tied together quite nicely.

THE CENTERPIECE...
Not one, but various displays created the centerpiece for the table...
To keep with the natural theme of this fall table, I placed
small ghost pumpkins on silver candle holder, and more
hypericum berries as a background filler were added throughout the table.
I placed the candle holder atop of one of my favorite vintage silver
trays to give the table a glow of shimmer under dimmed dinner lighting.

This centerpiece, while not one continuous design, gave the table
a more natural and relaxed feel.
The artichoke portion of the centerpiece accompanied by several medium sized
creamy white pumpkins, was my favorite part of the overall centerpiece design.

To add a little "whimsy" to the table, I incorporated a faux fall leaf garland as a table runner.  The contrast of the dark fall hues against the natural greens of the vegetables, and pale whites of the pumpkins, completed the fall color palette of this simple table design.

I was quite pleased with this simple tablescape.
"Going outside the box" of what I normally create was not only fun, but quite the challenge, but oh so worth it  for this girl who loves beautiful napkin rings, gorgeous china, and would have never thought that a simple handwritten tag strung with cooking string could possibly create such a sweet place setting.

Happy fall!

Xx,
Betty
